Do you buy it?
We've been talking about something that I've given quite a bit of thought to as I prepare for marriage and that is money management! It's actually something that has made me really nervous as I meet and date guys. I am not very high maintenance but I am afraid of being poor. I've realized that I need to get over it. I should ask myself how well a man manages money not necessarily how much he is capable of making. When I think of money I don't think of all the things I can buy. I think of the security of knowing that even if something unexpected happens we will be ok. That can come from just being smart and saving. Also, I think it's vital that husband and wife are very clear and honest about spending. It can really damage the relationship if one of them is a compulsive spender without the consent of the other. Major purchases need to be decided upon together. All money belongs to the couple and the couple decides how it is used. Being poor as a new couple is nothing to be feared or ashamed of. That's one of the ways couples grow close. Happiness can be found even in the midst of financial hardship if a couple has faith and is smart about the way they use their assets!
